Environmental and Social Monitoring Officer (Environmental Engineer) Organization: AMAL Organization for Relief and Development Project: Nabni – Building for Peace Project Duty Station: As-Suqaylabiyah and Qalaat al-Madiq (Hama based candidates with extensive field travel to project locations in As-Suqaylabiyah and Qalaat al-Madiq could be considered) Contract Duration: 12 months Expected Start Date: asap but no later than 01/01/2027 Important Note: This position is being recruited in anticipation of the proposed project. Appointment and contract issuance are subject to final donor approval and confirmation of project funding. About AMAL Organization For Relief& Development Amal is a non-profit Syrian non-governmental organization established and registered in Turkey on 6/6/2014, to provide life-saving aid and services to the most vulnerable people, strengthening their resilience, advocating for their basic rights, and also contributing to providing recovery and revitalization programs for societies that war turned Position Summary AMAL is seeking a motivated Environmental and Social Monitoring Officer (Environmental Engineer) to support environmental and social monitoring of infrastructure and service-delivery activities under the proposed Nabni project. This is a junior-level position intended for candidates with a good technical foundation who are interested in developing practical experience in environmental and social safeguards. The successful candidate will support site assessments, environmental and social screening, implementation and monitoring of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), contractor compliance, occupational and community health and safety, environmental monitoring and related project documentation. The position involves regular field visits and close coordination with engineers, contractors, project staff, MEAL colleagues, local stakeholders and service providers. Environmental and Social Site Monitoring Conduct regular field visits to project sites and monitor implementation of applicable environmental and social requirements. Support environmental and social site assessments and screening of proposed interventions. Assist in identifying environmental, social, occupational health and safety, and community-safety risks associated with project activities. Monitor compliance with site-specific ESMP requirements and agreed mitigation measures. Document observations, non-compliance issues and recommended corrective actions.
